Fathom was awarded the first prize at the 2018 Nashville Junior Chamber (NJC) Pitch Nashville competition held at The Bridge Building on November 8. Founder and CEO, JoAdel Adeola, presented Fathom's Change Agents curriculum—a 21st Century project-based career development tool.
The innovative curriculum inspires young adults to identify their passions, talents, and crucial problems they wish to address. Introducing them to entrepreneurial problem-solving activities, it enables them to shape their career paths based on projects aimed at tackling real-world problems. In recognition of their groundbreaking proposal, Fathom was awarded the $2,500 pitch prize.
In recent years, Nashville and its surrounding areas have seen an influx of diversity, ideas, and challenges. This growth emphasizes the need for education to be at the forefront, both for the next generation of Nashville's business and creative forces and for those seeking educational opportunities the city offers. This year's NJC Pitch Competition seeks to address these very challenges in education.
The NJC, founded in 1921, has a long-standing history of fostering growth and providing civic and social opportunities for young professionals in the Nashville region. Their core mission revolves around the development, inclusivity, community, and engagement of their members. Through events such as Pitch Nashville, the NJC bolsters its commitment to giving voice to innovative solutions that tackle the city’s pressing issues.
The victory of Fathom in this competition adds momentum to their mission and further solidifies their place in the growing educational landscape of Middle Tennessee.
