Fathom, founded by NSF I-Corps alumni JoAdel Adeola and Julie Dunlap, is proud to announce their acceptance into Vanderbilt University's The Wond’ry Innovation Center’s new incubator space, Launch. Building on their existing partnership from 2020 during the National Science Foundation’s I-Corps program, this new chapter aims to accelerate their mission and aspirations towards building a new world of work for students, workers and job seekers.
Launch, the latest venture by The Wond’ry, Vanderbilt’s Center for Innovation, is a dedicated incubator space for startups affiliated with local universities. This pioneering initiative is tailored to support pre-seed and seed-stage venture founders across an eclectic mix of sectors, from health care to the arts. The broader objective goes beyond business; it includes fostering social ventures and benefit corporations.
"Starting new enterprises is riddled with challenges, more so in our rapidly-evolving world," remarked Chancellor Daniel Diermeier. "Nashville is emerging as a hub of innovation, and through initiatives like Launch, Vanderbilt is ensuring the blossoming of ideas that pave the way for future societal advancements."
The Founder program, nestled within Launch, will act as a bridge, linking budding entrepreneurs with potential investors. It promises holistic growth with invaluable support from The Wond’ry’s entrepreneurs in residence, the seasoned Wond’ry Mentors, and a roadmap for applying to prestigious programs and funds, such as the National Science Foundation Innovation Corps.
Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, C. Cybele Raver added, “The Wond’ry is a testament to the immense potential of collaborative university ventures. Under this distinguished team's stewardship, we've witnessed the confluence of mentorship, design innovation, and practical testing propelling both entrepreneurial triumphs and impactful societal change. Launch is set to amplify this legacy of daring, transformative ideas.”
The entry into Launch gifts Fathom, and other early-stage ventures, an invaluable asset – a vibrant community of innovators and entrepreneurs. This community promises both practical guidance and the much-needed social support, acting as a catalyst for startups to flourish in Nashville.
The journey ahead for Fathom is one of promise, potential, and unparalleled support. The Wond’ry’s incubator program is not just a space; it's a community, a guide, and a springboard.
